I am the sponsor for my mother, who is currently in NY. After the AOR, we received a letter requesting biometrics to be submitted to a VAC in New York. However, my mother's travel passport that was used in the application for sponsorship is about to expire. I have 3 questions:
1. Can we apply with the currently "about to expire" passport and get her biometrics?
2. If not, how can I ask for an extension on the 30 days to provide biometrics so we can renew it quickly? Whom do I email?
3. It says in the biometric letter that " You must use the same travel document throughout the application process, including when you go to a biometric collection service point to give your biometrics. You must also use the same travel document upon arrival in Canada." --- considering that my mother will have a new travel passport (but will still be in possession of the expired one) will this cause any issues?
We would prefer to apply for biometrics with a renewed travel passport rather than the old one. Have you experienced this before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
