Expired but activated LMIA - currently working in Canada

So earlier, even though I have an LMIA and 2 year work permit, my application has been immediately rejected with a message "ineligable to apply".

I have created new CG Key as I couldn't understand why would that happen. I will apply tonight again as I'm too shaken at the moment to do it now.

Anyway, I started reading and was told that CIC might not accept my LMIA because it expired (issued in July, expired last month), even though it has been activated and I was issued two year work permit on which I'm currently on and working for an employer from whom I have a continuous job offer.

Can someone please confirm/debunk, thank you.

What was your IELTS score, funds etc?
Double check that you qualify.

Yeah check other things that qualify your profile and also did you put in your work permit validity date some where in the application?

You are making mistake , As I know your LMIA validity depend on your work permit validity date. So for exemple if your wp upto 2016 february , then your LMIA also valid upto february 2016. When will your WP expired .

I've put expired LMO (valid for six months to get WP) and it worked fine for me.

That's right, LMO is valid for 6 months only to extent WP.
