Experiences with delaying the oath ceremony?

Hi,

My application became Decision Made a few days ago. Unfortunately, I have to go back to my home country in September for a couple of weeks (urgent family matter). If I receive my oath invite in the next few weeks, I won't be able to travel as my original citizenship will automatically cancel, and there just won't be enough time to apply for a passport. It's rotten timing.
Would I be able to ask them to delay the ceremony when I get the email? Any recent experiences?

Yes.

But if you get your oath date early, you could ask for your citizenship certificate AND your passport to be expedited. Ideally, you might get the citizenship certificate within 48 hours and the passport within 2 days of applying if you can demonstrate the need (proof of travel).

If you need a visa to enter your country after becoming a Canadian citizen, you should take that into account as well.

This might be doable, check the timelines and see if it'll workout for you!

Good luck!

Why not asking them to expedite the oath ceremony instead? They might do that for you. Your file has already been approved.
