Hi friends,

I am on Work permit now(in Canada for last 1 year) and I will be applying for PR under Express Entry - Canadian Experience Class soon. I have concerns regarding my previous Experience Letters from ex- employers in India. Most of them , dont mention or explain about the detailed job responsibilities, have only my Roles like Senior Software Analyst or like Senior Assoicate - Application development. Will this be an issue ? Also, How I will find NOC codes for this kind of Job roles ?

Really feeling very sad. I had completed two years of study, each year from a separate but recognized college in Canada and was totally eligible for three years work permit. But, I'm shocked to see today that I just got one year work permit after having invested so much money into education. This is such an unfair decision from CIC. Don't know what to do. Can somebody help me?

When is your passport expiring? CIC will issue the length of a work permit based on the validity of your passport, so if it's expiring in a year, this might explain why.

Need more info. What type of credential did you receive first (degree, diploma, certificate) and what type did you receive 2nd? And how much time was there in between programs?

In general, CIC does not consider two separate one-year programs to be the same as a 2 yr program. There are specific circumstances where you CAN get a 3 yr PGWP from two separate programs (as long as there was no more than 2 years between programs):

1) The 2nd program led to a graduate degree, diploma or certificate (post-baccalaureate, masters level)
2) The 1st program led to a degree (e.g. bachelors degree, master's degree); here, diplomas and certificates are excluded.
3) The 2nd program is a two-year program, but it allowed allowed transfer credit from the first program, and you completed the 2nd program after one year.

unfortunately, CIC does not make this info easy to find...

It depends on whether the experience from those positions gives you "points" that lead to an ITA. If you qualify without including those positions in your profile, you can leave them out and you don't have to worry about letters. If you need the points, you need to provide letters wth the required information, including job duties/responsibilities. If you are unable to get new letters (best option), you can use the old letters but you will have to write a letter of explanation and provide alternative proof about your job duties and responsibilities.

To find your NOC, you can search here - you need to find the position that best matches your duties and responsibilities (not necessarily job title or education).

If you're working with LMIA you don't need to worry too much about it, you'll get enough score only with that.

If you cannot get a more detailed letter you can try to ask for a position description to your old companies HR, or try to include some additional information (work contract, Job offer, website position description or include an additional letter explaining these companies can't provide more information and tell what you did for the job)

To find equivalent NOC just look in here

My first program was a graduate certificate in Corporate Communication and Public Relations from Fanshawe College and my second program was graduate certificate in International Business Management from Seneca College.

Jes had pointed to this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2010/ob194A.asp

In this link, there is a statement: Students holding a one-year graduate degree, diploma or certificate from a participating institution in Canada after having obtained, within the prior two years, a certificate, a diploma or degree from a participating institution in Canada may qualify for a three-year work permit. This exception also applies to students who have left Canada temporarily between programs of study.

Doesn't that allow one year graduate certificate from a participating college and another graduate certificate from a different college to be eligible for a 3 years work permit? By the way, I had explained my case and asked my college immigration consultant and CIC toll-free number whether I will be eligible for three year work permit. They said yes. In fact, CIC agent has also put a note to the visa processing centre to reconsider my case.

Anyways, I need some inputs

Hey, I got my case notes that I had ordered from CIC. They sent me a PDF document but I am not able to understand it. Has anyone read case notes before? In the email, they also sent a link to the Record Correction Request Form stating that I have the right to request the correction of any errors I believe to exist in any of the enclosed information which originated with Immigration, Citizenship and Refugees Canada. Do u hv an idea about this form? Also, as I said before, the CIC agent put a note for reconsideration to the visa processing centre; so, I'm waiting for CIC's reply to that note as well.

Dear All,

I have a question on experience certificate.

a) I have worked for Company A from July 2007 to April 2010
b) From May 2010 onwards (till date) I'm working for Company B.

While I have the appointment/increment and acceptance of resignation letter(s) for Company A, they have declined to provide me with a detailed description of my duties and say it is against Company policy.

I'm reasonably confident of getting a work experience letter from Company B detailing my job duties since I'm still employed here. Since my total work experience in Company B is almost 7 years and more than covers the 3 years experience requirement of CIC, should I remove my experience details of Company A from my EE profile? Will this cause any issues?

I don't want a situation where my EE profile gets rejected just because Company A will not provide my job duties/roles.

Would be grateful for any advice on this matter.

Thanks,
SAVS

You will not be rejected, you do not need the "experience" from Job A, and you can safely remove it from your profile.

If you already received the ITA and you need to upload something, just upload what you have, it won't matter one bit.

Hi there,

I'm an international graduate (graduated from Canadian university) I have two years of work experience (one job and one company within Canada) my Job offer/occupation falls under NOC-0 when I calculated my score for Express Entry I'm getting like 465 but my IELTS over all band score is 6.0 (Listening 6.0 Speaking 6.5 Writing 6.5 and Reading 4.5)

As of March first week draw, the minimum score for invitation was 434, Is that okay that if I register for express entry with the above IELTS score?

I'm sure that I'll get an invitation if I register for it, but I'm worrying about the IELTS score. According to CIC, IELTS score must be 6.0 in all four components for NOC 0.

Please someone suggest me on this issue.

Thanks a lot!
