Hi,

I am working in USA on H1B since last 4 years. I posted my application form last month which was received on June 30th 2009 in Sydney, Canada.
Can you please share how much time it takes to get response (application accepted or query for application) ?

Thanks.

Applied on May 29th. Draft en-cashed on June 28th. still no reply. Its almost 60 days now.
I am already expecting a rejection as I applied with NOC 2173 so that I get my refund back ;)

That's bad news to me as I expected a rejection.
I was not able to find link for funds required and after submitting application I found the link & found that I have entered bit less amount compare to mentioned on site.

But I am not sure why you are expected rejection for filing NOC 2173, I have also filed for same NOC 2173.
Can you please share more on this?

Thanks.

I am not sure under which category you have applied but I recently found that for FSW category NOC 2173 is not in the 38 NOC list, so I am not eligible.

I should have researched properly even before applying... my bad ;)
I hope at least I get my refund back.

Well, if you have included different code 0213 also along with 2173 then don't worry.

The only code I mentioned was 2173 that's why I am not eligible under FSW

I started with following links

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/factor-experience.asp

on the bottom I got this

National Occupational Classification (NOC) -> http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/
click English -> http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Welcome.aspx

click -> Learn more about the NOC.
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/AboutNOC.aspx

In the bottom I got
Preface in HTML -> http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/Preface.aspx

Here I can see
2173 - Software Engineers and Designers

and I my role & responsibilty is for Software Engineers, I think I qualify for 2173.

I hope I have not assumed it in wrong way.

And last but not least, if application is rejected, don't we get draft back?

I have understood that if information is given correctly, officers do their best to give positive reply, until unless someone is on totally wrong way.

Hope for the best.

Thanks...

But in the form there was space for only 4 digit code. And I am not aware of 0213.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

My dear friend, looks like you made the same mistake I did, NOC 2173 is not in the 38 NOC occupation list for those who are applying under FSW category.

I am sure experts like rupesh or Leon can have better explanation.

Hi,

Thanks for quick response. I googled 38 NOC and found a link which has a list of 38 categories
http://www.visaplace.com/canada-immigration/skilled-worker/38-occupations-list.php.

Now back to reality, my application is expected to get rejected as I have mentioned 2173 for FSW instead of 0213.

- Do we get our draft back?
- I am working as software engineering and not as manager, do I qualify for 0213 NOC?

I would appreciate your reply.

Thanks.

In Current NOC list there is no other code for IT guys than '0213'

If u are not performing duties as mentioned under '0213' then u don't qualify for PR under FSW

if you don't qualify due to work experience, then you get your money back, but it might take up to 6months i think.
You need management experience for 0213. If you have H1b, then you could try for Alberta program for H1Bs. I think it has its own job list but not 100% sure.

friends please try http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=0213 link
It has detail about 0213 Computer and Information Systems Manager
but in the bottom I can see following,

Classified elsewhere

Computer and information systems supervisors (in 217 Computer and Information Systems Professionals)
Computer Engineers (Except Software Engineers and Designers) (2147)
Computer Programmers and Interactive Media Developers (2174)
Computer services company presidents (in 0013 Senior Managers - Financial, Communications and Other Business Services)
Database Analysts and Data Administrators (2172)
Information Systems Analysts and Consultants (2171)
LAN managers (in 2281 Computer Network Technicians)
Software Engineers and Designers (2173)

What does this means?

Please help me to understand this.

Thanks.
