Hi!
I'm here in Canada as a tourist with my husband, our provincial nominee has been approved but we haven't received any letter from the immigration for our passport stamp yet. I'm just wondering if we have to exit Canada once we received our PR card?
Thanks!
Hi, you are talking about separate things here.
1. You may have received an email saying your application has been approved. If you have not received instructions to send in your passports, then you have not received your immigrant visa's yet and your CoPRs.
2. You need your immigrant visas and CoPRs to enter Canada and officially "land" as immigrants. That will also then trigger the start of processing your PR cards. They will be sent to you at the adress in Canada that you specify.
If you are currently here on TRVs, as soon as you get your passports back with the visa stamp and with your CoPRs,
1. you can exit Canada and come back/re-enter (as mentioned above) using your immigrant visas and present your CoPRs to the border officer to complete landing and start processing your PR card. You can do this via a land border crossing.
2. or you can make an appointment with a CIC office near you and do "inland" landing. This takes some time (getting an appointment) but the advantage is you do not have to exit the country. You have to call in to the CIC call centre to make this appointment.
/hope this helps....
