I'll be moving to Calgary next month. This week I finally got my UK license and was wondering if it would be possible to exchange this for an Alberta license. I have read that if you have under 2 years experience then I may have to enter the graduated system. I presume they mean 2 years of full license driving? Does this mean that I will only be able to get a class 7 license and be subject to the 1 year probationary period before I can drive alone?

Thanks!

Hi Tom, im unclear of the 2 year thing, I exchanged mine for a class 5 straight away but lost my bike and HGV license? Figure that one out, if you drove in Calgary and seen the level of drivers here, my 4 month old has a better grasp on driving than these lot! ;D

You should be able to get a GDL license right away which would allow you to drive alone.
