Examples of obtaining LMIA?

Hi,

Has anyone got any experience of successfully obtaining a job via LMIA? (Particularly from outside of Canada)

I am based in the UK. I am registered on various Canadian job sites and I am getting a lot of interest for jobs. However when I explain my situation and the need for LMIA people go silent or have no idea what I'm talking about.

I have yet to see any examples of anyone obtaining a LMIA from outside of Canada. Most of the people I have seen post regarding LMIA seem to already be working in Canada. And indeed most of the people getting ITA and the current point levels for the draws seem to be already living and working in Canada.

I don't really see the point of having an Express Entry system if most of the people getting ITA already live and work in Canada.

Is there any other method of entry for skilled workers apart from Express Entry?

I have 394 points and I cannot improve my score.

Thanks

Marcus

Check out the Foreign Workers section of the forum. There are several discussions there that include individuals from outside of Canada who have been successful in obtaining LMIAs.

Recommend that you focus on things you can change immediately. You're already at 394 - if you get just 6 more points you are eligible for Ontario PNP program. Look for areas to improve your score and I'm guessing the fastest way to do that would be Language Assessment.

How much did you score in IELTS or language assessment? Look at improving that score. Cracking CLB9/10 gives your points considerable boost.

Thanks I'll have a look at that.

I have 133 on IETLS which I believe is CLB9/10. I believe the max score for IETS is 136 so I could improve it by 3 points but that is a drop in the ocean.

Outside of that I can only improve my score by doing a masters degree or learning French but either of those would obviously take a long time ;)
