Neither my fiance or I still have the really early emails etc., showing the earliest and developing part of our relationship. We were online friends for months while our feelings grew, then shortly after we admitted our feelings finally, did we begin keeping everything. All I have from before we admitted our feelings was an e-card (a thank you card) and a gift from her to me of Buddhist writings (something we both shared a keen interest in, despite neither of us being Buddhist).

How big a deal is it that we have that early gap? I mean, we have 2500+ emails over the past three years, plus a bazillion Skype and WhatsApp chat logs, but it's just that early and developing part we lack.

Any suggestions how to address this with CIC?

I would describe the relationship from the start . As long as you have been together for 365 and not 1 day less then i wouldn't worry about that .

Thanks, we certainly will. I guess I was looking at it as someone who wants to have the application air-tight. I envisioned being able to write my narrative, and make references to specific evidence provided (e.g., "see photo set 3, bottom left", etc.)

We will make a point to flesh out in as much detail those early weeks /months as best we can, and will explain that at that time, we simply didn't keep everything.

365 days is only a specific requirement if proving cohabitation for common-law status. If they will be applying as a married couple, then meeting a specific length of relationship is not required (although of course the longer time spent dating before marriage, the better).

They said Fiance , so i replied as that .. If he had said my future wife, we are getting married before applying for PR , i wouldn't have mentioned the 365 days .. But i also appreciate your knowledge Rob_ To you have always been then when i need help or clarification.

Fiance now, but we're planning on an August wedding, so it will be a spousal sponsorship. We'll be applying for the PR after that, but are putting our application together now. We are in the evidence gathering stage.

Then as Rob-TO said don't have to worry about the 365 days and as i said don't worry about the first few months you were together. Its not like we meet someone and say ok i might want to sponsor this person so best keep every thing. CIC understands this . Good luck with the wedding and your application.
