Hi there,

My Canadian wife and I have submitted a family class sponsorship application in September 2018. They started processing it Dec. 20th. She got approved one month later and then I gave my biometrics in Jan, 2019. Following that I finished my medical exam in March, 2019. May 15th, I received an email asking to prove my wife’s intention to return to Canada within the 15 days period of time and giving examples of a job offer, evidence of having rented/bought a dwelling in Canada, resignation letter from her current employer. Of course, we chose the resignation letter as it is the easiest for this short period of time. My wife works as a teacher and her job starts in fall and ends in summer. Our initial plan was to leave to Canada summer 2019. As we have not heard from the immigration office during spring, we decided that she would keep her job for one more year, meaning that we will postpone our move to summer 2020. Thankfully, she asked her boss to write a letter dated May 16th mentioning that she will be resigning from her job upon the receipt of my PR.

Now the VO is asking for a specific date of resignation. Any ideas how to respond to that ?

I have read several blogs that clearly mentioned that we have to show the VO that we are ready to move immediately, versus our plan of a year from now.

Useful reading on proof of intent to return to Canada here:

https://britishexpats.com/wiki/Spousal_Sponsorship-Canada/FAQ_-_New_Application_Forms#Item_2:_How_do_I_prove_I_intend_to_return_to_Canada.3F

I managed to 'prove' it, although I was planning to retire on my move to Canada.
