Dear All,

This morning we received a letter from the Quebec's Ministry of Immigration requesting us to submit additional written documents as evidence of "vie commune" as de facto spouses for at least one year. We had been living together since August 2010 and had previously submitted 1) lease, 2) witness statement from our landlord testifying that we have been renting his apartment since August 2010 to this day. We live in a country where civil law partners / de facto spouses are not recognized by the State, so we cannot buy any property together nor can we open a joint banking account. As a result of which, we do not have a joint banking account and cannot submit it as proof of our life as de facto spouses. We obviously bought a lot of furniture for our house but our receipts do not reflect that. We also don't pay utilities (it is the responsibility of our landlord) and have no proof of paid utilities' bills under our names.

We have lots of pictures, tickets and hotel reservations from trips we have taken as a couple. I also have to admit that since I have been unemployed (for more than 7 months now), my partner has taken on responsibility of all costs associated with living, ranging from medical insurance, groceries, vacation, etc. Will a letter from the two of us confirming these facts be sufficient? If not, what other examples can you provide that demonstrate a proof of shared life?

Thank you in advance for information.
