Hi,
I'm really hoping someone can help with this because I asked the same question on the sponsorship board and didn't get a response.
I have Canadian citizenship and recently sent off an application to change my card to my married name. I had no idea it would take a year to come back, and am just about to start the process of applying for family class sponsorship so that I can take my husband and daughter to live in Canada next summer (we all live in the UK). I was going to allow a year for the sponsorship application to be processed because I wanted everything to be approved before we go.
So my question is, does anyone know if there's a way I can get evidence that I have Canadian citizenship for the purposes of the sponsorship application (I don't have a Canadian passport), or will I have to wait a year for my new citizenship card to come through before I can complete the sponsorhip application?
I'm really worried that our plans might be delayed for a year because of this so any advice would be very gratefully received.
Thank you.
