Hello everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. As most of you already know Canada updates its NOC code system every 5 years, and we've been using the NOC2016 for a long time.

Now they're preparing for a major update. With this update they'll introduce more levels to the NOC system to better distinguish the skill levels. These new levels will also determine who'll be eligible for express entry in the future draws. I will leave the official resources from the government websites belove my post so that you can check the answers for your questions yourself rather than watching some fear mongering, corrupt immigrantion consultant on youtube.

Most important number in your NOC2021 code is the 2nd Digit of the code. For example Bookkeeper was 1311 in NOC2016 list, it is now 12.200 in NOC2021. Second digit is "2", which means it is still falling under the eligible group. (0 + 1 + 2 ) According the resources we currently have, a significant number of old "B" class occupations from NOC2016 are now downgraded a level in NOC2021.

Last but not least, when are they gonna implement it? There is conflicting information about it on government resources, but my personal opinion is that they've initially intented to implement it in Spring 2022, then had to postpone it to second half of 2022. However, the final implementation date will be comfirmed on IRCC's website closer to the date of implementation.

"Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in conjunction with ESDC, is aiming to adopt the revised NOC structure in spring 2022 for the management of temporary and permanent resident programs. "(https://www.statcan.gc.ca/eng/subjects/standard/noc/notice/nor-2021) (Date modified: 2020-11-05)

"The NOC 2021 was developed in partnership with Statistics Canada and will be published on Employment and Social Development Canada’s (ESDC) website in the coming months. However, in order to provide organizations and programs with enough time to make a proper transition from NOC 2016 to NOC 2021, the latter is expected to be implemented and become the official classification used by ESDC in the second half of 2022."(https://noc.esdc.gc.ca/Structure/Noc2021) (Date modified:2021-07-29 )

If you have questions, comments or anything to say about the new NOC2021 system, we can talk about it here, and try to share the news with each other.
