Hello everyone,

Myself and my spouse became permanent residents of Canada today and I thought I could share the inland interview experience at Etobicoke today, August 26th 2019. We had received our COPRs on the 14th of August (3 weeks after sending our passports for stamping). We were initially thinking of going to the US for a week or so and then land at the Pearson/Billy Bishop airport to complete our PR process but decided to carry on with the inland interview process. We had mailed ircc.pra-rvpr.ircc@cic.gc.ca with the required information on the 15th of August and then received a reply on the 20th with the interview details. Our interview was today in the afternoon at Etobicoke IRCC office by Dundas Street West.

We arrived about an hour early for the interview and there were already a lot of people waiting inside, I presume people who've applied for PR under various categories (refugee, skilled workers etc.). Initially we were given a waiting number at the entrance and we were waiting for our number to be displayed on the electronic board. It took us about 1 hour 45 minutes to get to the interview counter and complete the process. The visa officer in the counter we were assigned to was very soft spoken, she asked for our passports, CoPR, a few questions like "Where do you work", "Have you committed any crime recently" and "What are your first and last entry dates to Canada" and then asked us to sign the CoPRs. It took hardly 5 minutes for this process and she congratulated on our new PR status. There is a Service Canada office right next door where we got our new SIN numbers. It took us about 20 minutes and we had a very nice representative assist us with the process. Overall, the process was very smooth. Expect a lot of wait in the afternoon hours because many of the counters are closed during that time but otherwise it is all good and quite straightforward.

Thanks!
