Hey, my name is Shamar walker. On attempt to board my flight back to Canada to reunite with my 6month old daughter, I was told no eta was not showing up for me in the system, then when contacted by airport staff CBSA said my eta has been canceled, it was originally approved in March 2020, I never got to travel on this eta so I haven't misused it, they didn't give a reason just to re-apply. Prior to this, I had realized when checking the eta status tool checking my status there was (no match) found with my eta # and the correct info on my passport, I think when I applied I put the wrong expiry date for my passport. could this be a reason they canceled it? since there were a no match in the system with the date I originally used on my application and the actual date on my passport?

It's quite possible that could be the problem. It's really hard to say. There are a number of reasons why eTAs are sometimes canceled. I would try applying again making sure you get the dates right for your passport.

Are you a PR?

Hi , when u apply for new eta do they cancel the old eta ? I made same mistake & entered my exp date wrong still got approved
, later i applied again when i realised mistake and got another approval,

now the olt eta although shows approved but under comments below it says below

Your file is now closed. Should you wish to reapply for an eTA, we encourage you to do so only once you have addressed the reason(s) for the cancellation of your application. At that time, you may submit a new application at www.canada.ca/eTA.

You are no longer considered to hold a valid eTA. As such, you should not plan or undertake any travel to Canada by air. If you do decide to travel to Canada, you may experience delays or be prevented from boarding your flight and/or entering Canada.

New eta is all fine . I am guessing that because i had applied for a new eta therefore old eta got cancelled as u can only have 1 valid eta at a time.
