My recent eTA application has been wtihdrawn even though I submitted IMM 5782 "Application To Voluntarily Renounce Permanet Resident Status" as required, as I no longer meet the RO requirements, uploading it through MyCic as instructed during my said eTA application.

Cic reply:

A review of your Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) application has revealed that you are a person with a valid Canadian Permanent Residence Card. As a permanent resident, you do not need an eTA to travel to Canada and you are not eligible to apply for an eTA. As a result, your application is being withdrawn.

Your application is now closed. You are not considered to hold a valid eTA.

Sincerely,

Citizenship and Immigration Canada

I am at a loss as I do not hold a valid PR card to board my flight on April 7 2016 to visit my elderly parents in Canada.
Can anyone help?

Thanks.

PS:
Booked my flight in January, not knowing about eTA then.

The implementation of ETA has been delayed. You don't need ETA to fly in April.

Thx for your response but,
From government of Canada site:

My application for an eTA was refused. Can I still travel to Canada during the leniency period?

If your application was refused, you should not plan or undertake any travel to Canada, even during the leniency period. If you decide to travel to Canada with a refused eTA during the leniency period, you may experience delays or be prevented from entering the country.

We encourage you to reapply for an eTA only once you have addressed the reason(s) leading to the refusal of your application.

Yes, visa exempted passport holders don't need ETA if they travel through a land border.

Hmmm... I hadn't seen that bit. In that case I would apply for a new one from scratch asap. Is there any place where you can add notes to the application to explain you've submitted the request to voluntarily renounce PR?

Scylla,

As is in my post I submitted the completed Voluntarily Renounce form together with my eTA application.
