I've been offered a place for a masters programme at the University of Montreal, and I've also been asked to start as a research assistant before the term starts. As a result, I've applied for a work permit online through the CIC website. I only found out later that this was a bad idea and should have gone through VFS Global.
So I got an official acceptance letter (this is for the masters programme) a month after submitting the work permit, and I'm now trying to apply for a student visa. Unfortunately, the folks at VFS Global are telling me they can't process a student visa if I have a work permit application in the works. So I try going about contacting the CIC in Singapore.
I send emails, but those go unanswered. So I try calling their hotline.
Turns out, the hotline automated service and the helpdesk both say the Canadian embassy doesn't entertain calls about immigration, and to head down to the embassy.
I head down to the embassy, and the security there says they do not entertain issues about immigration, and was given an address to the VFS Global office.
I head to the VFS Global office, and they tell me to send an "Urgent email". I've done this about 6 times now over the course of one and a half months, of course with no reply. Well, there was an automated reply, but no human response.
The site says it takes one month to process the visa, it's been 3 months now with no response on their end. Is there any way I can contact some higher authority for my case? I feel like I'm out of options here.
