Hi,

I submitted by express entry profile yesterday. After approval, when I checked the score, I stood at 453 instead of 478 according to my calculations. A closer inspection revealed that I got only 25 points in "CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience". Based on my understanding, CLB9 in all the sections of IELTS + 3 years or more of work experience in a job with NOC categorization 0, A, B entitles a person to get 50 points.

I've 4 years work experience in NOC 2171 (2 different firms with a 2 year gap in between) and CLB10 in all the sections. Ideally, what should be my "CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience" score?

If it's supposed to be 50, how can I notify CIC and asked them to rectify the score?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Typically the systems reacts to the data provided in the application so it is usually a data entry error or an error of understanding the CRS algorithm. In your case, it might be the former so recheck the data provided in the application.

http://www.immigration.ca/en/immigration-wiki2/205-home/immigration-manuals/e-application/1399-foreign-work-experience.html

Express Entry Foreign Work Experience

With reference to segments 23 and 24 given above, the authorities have formulated a definition for ‘foreign work experience’. Foreign work experience denotes work experience that:

1. A foreign national in Canada acquires in one or more occupations listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Levels A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) matrix
2. Comprises continuous full-time work experience (or the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience) and,
3. A foreign national in Canada acquires within the 10-year period preceding the day on which the authorities assign points to the foreign national in this category

Does your work experience in both the companies satisfy these criteria? It seems you are getting point for only one company. So one of those two foreign wor ex doesn't satisfy these criteria.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp

(c) 25 points, if the foreign national has one or two years of foreign work experience and is assessed in their first official language at level 9 or higher on all language skill areas ;

Remember that the grand total for skills transferability is 100 points.

What are your scores in the other sections of skills transferability?

Were your 4 years of 2171 all in the last 10 years? Your skill transferability score should be 75. You're right your score should be 478 assuming your minimum 3 years of work experience was in the last 10 years.

I withdrew the previous EE profile and created a new one. Now, it shows 478. So, I guess I did make a mistake (pretty darn undetectable) last time. Thanks for all the suggestions and inputs.

Guys - I have a question on Skill transferability - Education

I have CLB9 overall in IELTS (Speaking 7.5, writing 7, reading 9, listening 8.5) and have completed bachelors degree 3 years (10 + 2 + 3) Overall work experience is 10+ years

I'm only getting 25 points for education, 50 points for foreign work experience... I thought i should get 50 points for education, not 25....

Can someone explain why its 25 points only ? Am I missing something ?

Hi Guys,

Can I get points for having 3 years experience in total but from two different noc?

example NOC A 1.5 years and NOC B 1.5 years which gives a total of 3 years?

That is correct. You can only get 50 points for education if you have:
2 university diplomas from which at least one is 3 years or longer and each of them is 1 year or longer)
Master or MBA diploma
PHD diploma

if your diploma was not assessed as Master, then you will only get 25 points as max. for your education.

Hi guys,

I also have some discrepancy in the Foreign Work Experience section, hopefully someone can clarify this:

I recently applied for Express Entry under the FSW program, upon completion of my profile I received the following points for my work experience:
CRS – Skill Transferability – Foreign Work Experience : 25 points

And we know that, as per the website, you are awarded 25 points if you have 3+ years of work experience with "CLB 7 or more on all first official language abilities, one or more under 9" OR for 1-2 years of experience with "CLB 9 or more on all four first official language abilities".

As of today, my work experience is exactly 1 year, 11 months.
My IELTS General Training scores are:
Speaking 8.5 , Reading 8 , Listening 7.5, Writing 8
So my corresponding CLB levels are 10, 10, 8, 10.

Since I have one CLB below 9 (Listening), then I should have been awarded 13 points instead of 25. I was wondering if the system takes into account the high grades I got in the other sections and averages them with the Listening section, which is why I got 25 points, or could it be an error ?

Appreciate your thoughts on this..

Nope. Your IELTS is on or above CBL 9. CBL 9 is - 8 on Listening and 7 on everything else.

Hi
So I used the score calculator tool on the CIC website to check my score, and it showed I have 469 points. Now, I submitted my application yesterday, which got updated today, and it says I have only 443points.

I crossed checked to see what was difference and turns out I was awarded 26 points in the CRS - Skill Transferability - Foreign Work Experience section in the calculator, whereas the application awarded me no points.

I have no foreign work experience, just one year of skilled work experience in Canada. The part I am confused is why the calculator gave me points for foreign experience when it never asked anything about it? Is it an overlooked bug? Should I resubmit my application?

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi Sarapgw,

I have encountered the same issue, did you figure it out ? If yes, then what did you do ? Appreciate the response.
