Hi guys, I am a Canadian PR and will be receiving my Canadian citizenship in a 2 weeks.

I want to travel with my wife to India and will be staying there for a year, hopefully with her.

I'm going to travel to India on my Indian passport (3 month grace period) and then surrender the Indian passport and convert it to Entry Visa (advice welcome).

NOW, where this gets complicated:

My wife is an Canadian citizen (no connection with India) so will I want to apply for an Entry Visa for her (based on Spouse/me having Indian heritage)

BUT, I have my Indian passport will be valid for another 2 weeks until I become a Canadian citizen. So technically, if I apply for her Entry Visa today it is valid but by the time she receives the passport back with a stamp I would be a Canadian citizen. Is this OK? Will it cause any problems at Indian immigration.

Also, we got married here in Canada a few months ago. If she travels with me on a E-visa instead, is there any way for her to convert that into an Entry Visa when in India?

Your help is much appreciated.

This is really an Indian immigration issue not a Canadian one.
