Hi,
This is Keyur Patel from India. Right now my mother is in Atlanta, USA on visitor visa with her relative. She wants to come Canada in April & she has legal visitor visa of Canada too. So, I want to know "is that necessary to take return ticket to my home country or she can travel with one way ticket.?" She will be going to meet my brother there in canada ( He is there on Student Visa). Her return from USA is 15 th of April. But she wants to leave USA between 2nd of April to 5th of April.
Sorry my query is bit long. She wants to stay in Canada for 4 to 5 weeks and then she wants to visit her aunt in Houston & her friend in Illinois, Chicago for some weeks. So, help me to Issue tickets for her itinerary.

Help me soon so I can fixed the route of her travel.

Thank You.

Hi

Without a ticket out of Canada, there is a good chance she won't even be allowed to board the plane to Canada.

I just want proper guidance to planned her itinerary accordingly the rules and immigration law. So, it's better don't give me useless answers if you don't know the right solution.

Anyone entering Canada as a visitor needs to be able to convince CBSA they will leave at the end of their authorised stay which could be authorised as just a week or upto 6 months no way to predict although a 4-5 week stay may lead to extra scrutiny or may not.

No difference at all to the same questions that will be asked of her by US CBP entering the US both times such as purpose of visit , how long staying , how are you funding your stay, do you have a return ticket or proof of intention to leave .

Simply having a ticket departing from USA is really of no relevance to leaving Canada so she needs a ticket or firm evidence that she will leave Canada at the end of her authorised stay and will be upto CBSA whether they grant her entry to the country or not and for how long.

As for airlines denying boarding of a visitor with a one way ticket no way to predict whether that could happen you would need to check directly with an airline although generally a one way ticket to the US or Canada for example not generally a good idea when facing either US CBP or CBSA regardless of what an airline might say.

It cannot be explained any clearer than that but if you want professional advice as opposed to a public forum then maybe consult an immigration professional as there are none on this public forum.

Thank you very much. I will definitely confirm with airlines and also with my mother and then book the trip.

Proper guidance comes with a lawyers fee attached to it. If you are looking for information gratis, please be a little more considerate of the members providing it. Otherwise, contact a lawyer or do the research yourself.

Cut the attitude. You asked "can she travel on a one way"? Sure, however, she faces refusal of boarding from the airline and refusal of entry from CBSA. So the solution is HAVE A TICKET OUT HAVE CANADA. Pretty basic.
