I have applied for a work-permit for the first time from India, and the dates in the application are from 1st June 2023 to 22nd December 2023. Would I be able to enter Canada a few days before like on 28th May 2023 to set-up my bank account and find accommodation, similarly leave a few days after like on the 27th of December 2023 to wind-up. I have an LMIA-Exempt Work-Permit and my role is a Visiting Student Researcher at Carleton University.

If you have a TRV that allows entry before the 1st then yes. The work permit just allows you to work, not enter.
So you don’t have an approved work permit? If approved, the TRV will be issued with your work permit and then you should be able to enter Canada.
I have applied for the Work-Permit, and it is currently processing, because the flight tickets were getting expensive, I wanted to get this info. So, should I have applied for the Work-permit with some buffer time before and after the duration of my work, which would have made sure that the TRV was also issued for that period? As it is my first time, I just applied for the duration stated in my Job Offer Letter.
Once approved then most likely the TRV will be issued for entry before start times but you will not know until approved.
