Hi everyone,
I have applied for an expedited PR card renewal because I am traveling for work to Australia at the end of this week. I have not even heard back from the immigration office to say that they have received the application yet. I know they signed for it though a week ago though.

I am an US citizen with a valid US passport, so I am not concerned with boarding the plane in Australia, but I am slightly nervous about not being allowed back in to Canada. I have had many people told me they got back in no problem with an expired PR card....but what if they don't let me back in? I have 3 kids and I am a doctor with a practice full of patients who will be waiting for me to arrive home. Has anyone been denied entry because their PR card was expired? I am really not sure what to do here.

(fyi..I am also not in Australia long enough to apply for a travel document for a one time entry back into Canada)

Shouldn't be a problem. eTA isn't required with your US passport and you can travel or transit to Canada without either a visa or eTA. Once you land in Canada, CBSA can figure out you are a PR without much difficulty. Take your receipts for your PR renewal. You'll be fine......

United States - citizens
You do not need a visa or an eTA to visit or transit Canada.
American citizens, including American-Canadian citizens, must carry proper identification and meet the basic requirements to enter Canada. You do not need a Canadian passport, a Canadian visa or an eTA to enter Canada if you are travelling with a valid U.S. passport
