Hi all! I have a question: Can I enter Canada under immediate family reunion as a common law partner? What's needed for it in terms of documents? I have a visitors visa and lease agreement on my name and my partner as of Nov. 2020, but we have been living together since Feb 2020. Would that lease be enough to enter? Is here anyone who made it into the country under common law partnership? Thank you in advance!

What is your partner's status in Canada?

You aren’t common law unless you can prove that you have been living together for a year. What proof do you have from February?

well, we don't have anything significant because he lived in my apartment so there's no document with both our names on it. But there're photos and screenshots of text messages. Don't think it is significant enough isn't it?

You need to prove cohabitation. So unfortunately the text messages and photos won't work. Do you have joint bank accounts? Joint utility bills? Anything like that?

Dear All,
Thank you to all to who replied to my post.
For all in similar situation, I have found a solution - it's extended family reunion there's an authorisation request that needs to be filled in by your Canadian family member and when this authorisation is granted you can travel to Canada as per travel rules and requirements.
Thank you and good luck! :)
