entering canada with PR card but without valid passport....??

Hi all,

we recently received our PR visa and I am planning for our move to canada in may Insha ALLAH, ,where we would stay there till we get our PR cards then come back to UAE and close out things ,then go to canada in a couple of months later for good, but since I hold a non recognised passport by the canadian goverment I am afraid that we might be able to enter Canada again even with our PR cards ,so I came to know that we can order a travel document and certificate of identity and for such I require to stay in canada a period not less than 6 month to start processing those documents, is that true?....

1- where can I apply for travel document and certificate of identity Inside Canada?.and how long it takes to get them.?
2- Can I apply for travel document and certificate of identity from outside canada, like CANADIAN EMBASSY IN ABU DHABI.? how long does it take?

3- what are the requirements to obtain travel document and certificate of identity.?....like staying 6 months inside canada?.....justification why i left canada first place....etc?


4- how many entries they are valid?

If you are n UAE you can apply for a "Travel Document - Permanent Resident Abroad" at the Canadian Embassy Abu Dhabi,

You need to submit your copy of COPR and your passport or travel/identity document issued by your country of citizenship.

I have gone through the link u gave plz note they said PR card or travel document

The following application is for permanent residents outside of Canada who need proof of their status so they can return to Canada. Use this travel document if you have lost your documents showing your permanent residence status.)


So if i get a PR card before leaving canada and after two months i want to come back all i have to show is PR card only,since my passport is not recognised as a travel document from canada.

yes. you only need your PR card to enter Canada. usually it takes 60 business days to get the PR Card from the moment you land, so in case you went back before you get your PR you have to apply for a travel document or get someone in canada to send you the PR card by FEDEX / DHL / Aramex or through a person coming from there.

U don't require anything (ur 1,2,3,4 doesn't matter to u)... u can Exit/ReEnter Canada any No. of times with ur Pps (unrecognized one)+ur PR Card.

Is it necessary to stay 6 months in Canada previously to apply for Travel Documents ? . If its possible to stay 6 months in Canada we will definitely get our PR card and the situation of applying TRAVEL DOCUMENTS on re-enter will not arise . Can You please let me know from where you got this information . I am planning to enter Canada in April end and stay there only for 3 weeks , give my relatives mailing address . For extreme situations on my PR card , I am planning to get TRAVEL DOCUMENTS and re-enter .

And also another question
IS mailing address same as home address in Canada . Are the mails delivered directly to the house premises or to a mail box .
In India it is delivered directly @ home but in the middle east where i currently am it is delivered to a mail box at another location.
