Hi,

I've finally got COPR! What a journey it's been!

I'm entering Canada (Toronto) in 2 days and wondered if I need 3 months medical insurance as a mandatory requirement?

If yes and I do need medical insurance, would I be given a certain amount of days to get it?

Ps. I don't have any medical complications or requirements, I'm lucky to be very healthy.

Thanks,

Steven Smith

No - there is no requirement to take out insurance. It's really a personal choice. Taking out insurance protects you against the costs of unexpected emergency care during the waiting period (i.e. let's say you are in a car accident - that could easily end up costing tens of thousands of dollars which you would be required to pay yourself without insurance).

Congrats on COPR!

Not needed, just advised!
FYI - Blue cross has decent rates.

Question: how long from the decision made status did it take to get your COPR?
Did you have any way to find out the decision before the COPR arrived?
Very impatiently waiting.. we have DM - but no idea what the decision is.

THanks!

if you did not have an interview or did not neglect to send requested information, then DM is positive. they can not deny PR without providing a chance for you to answer their concerns. how long the COPR takes to get to someone depends on their location and the speed of regular mail service.
