Hi

I completed my PR landing process in Canada in Jan 2012. I used rental car at that time. I am still living in USA. I have to visit canada again.
This time I want to use my own car to enter canada for a month and come back to US.

Question

Can I drive into canada in my own vehicle without exporting it from US? If yes will I have pay any fee? I do have the same vehicle listed in good to follow, but I do not intend to export it now. Also the vehicle is under mortgage in US.

any replies would be appreciated.

If you are still a resident of the USA, you should not have to import your vehicle. Some CBSA officers will fail to understand the distinction, so be prepared to be firm, but respectful, in explaining that although you have PR status, you are still a resident of the USA and are not assuming Canadian residency at this time.

thanks for the reply. I have spoken to the lienholder and they have agreed to give a Consent letter to take the vehicle outside US
