Hello, my family member plans to enter Canada on a TRV which expires in 3 weeks after their entry. Can they stay longer than 3 weeks , up to 6 months, or would they be asked to leave the country before the visa expires. What are the options to apply for an extension once they enter?

How long they are allowed to enter Canada will be determined by CBSA at the border. Visitors are normally given six months. The expiry date of the visa is irrelevant. If they want to stay beyond the time given by CBSA, they would apply for an extension from within Canada.
