Entering Canada by Road using Citizenship Certificate.

Hello,

I am scheduled for my OATH ceremony on 24 July but i already have plans to travel US on 26th July by road. From what i know after the oath they take your PR card and you have to get canadian passport.

But in case i dont have that much time, can i travel to US using my Indian Passport and enter canada using the citizenship certificate?

Please share your experience?

I believe that is fine. They can look up your status at the border. Bring you CoPR also.

You'll need to have an American Visa in your indian passport to enter USA. (if u have this then its not an issue)
And expect to be pulled over and sent into secondary inspection when returning to Canada (by CBSA for verification)

You can enter Canada via road using your citizenship certificate along with current passport for identity verification. Same can be confirmed with cbsa which i called about it last month.

Thank so much for sharing @harirajmohan . Did you have any issue entering US? I have a valid US visa on my Indian passport. Canadian passport has not arrived yet. I am not 100% sure if I can use my Indian passport to enter USA.

No issues. Till another passport comes you can use it and that too for the first 3 months you can use it without any penalty while surrendering indian passport.

Did you declare upfront that you are a Canadian citizen now but still waiting for the passport.
