Entering Canada as a tourist after Working Holiday visa expires

Hello!

This is my first post here. I've been lurking for a while and searching for answers for my many visa questions, and it's definitely been helpful.

I'm a Polish citizen and I first came to Canada in 2014 as a student, later as a post-graduate worker and now I'm here on a Working Holiday work permit, which is about to expire. The next visa I would like to apply for is the Young Professionals, however, I have to wait six months after the expiry of my current visa to apply for the next. I would like to spend the time waiting for that in Canada. My Working Holiday visa expires in less than a month and I would like to know whether it would be possible for me to flagpole (cross the US boarder and come back to Canada to get a stamp in my passport) and return to Canada as a tourist. I would, of course, not work during this period and I have sufficient funds to get me through that timeframe. Does anyone have any experience with that, or knows if this would be possible?

Thanks for any help. Let me know if I can explain anything better.

Cheers!

Leaving the country you always run risk of being denied reentry especially given the expiring IEC permit so shy not use the official extend stay as a visitor option where you do not have exit country http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp#extend not sure if you would get 6 months but worth considering given is option many people use.
