enter Canda w/o PR card? Or CoPR is sufficient?

Hi everyone. Right now I have a student visa (haven't got my study permit), and a PR visa. I am going to Canada in a week from a visa-required country to become a PR. The thing is I want to go to the U.S. before my PR card arrives. My ticket is the second day I land in Canada lol. But how do I get back? There is a chance I might not get it before I leave to Canada. So how do I enter Canada? I saw that by plane, its probably not ok? Is it ok to drive to Canada from the States? Will they only need to see my CoPR? I am afraid they wouldnt let me in just with my CoPR T_T

Please help me, will I be able to enter Canada without my PR card? Will my student visa help in this situation? Its brand new, I got it a few days before my PR application was approved, is it valid?? Can I get a study permit AND my landing paper??

Well, you definitely won't have your PR card in 2 days. It is likely that your student visa will be cancelled (although there are differing opinions on this) once you receive your PR visa, so it may or may not work. You can always enter at a land boarder from the US and walk or drive across in a private vehicle. Most commercial transport (buses and trains and possibly taxi's will require a valid PR card as well. Your landing document and passport should be sufficient to allow you entry (it does sometimes take them a while for CBSA to process the paperwork through to IRCC), but if you are in the US for a week or two, it shouldn't cause any problems.

Hi, thank you very much for your response. I noticed you said "if you are in the US for a week or two, it shouldn't cause any problems". I think I will be there much longer than that? 2 months or so? Does that affect anything? Is it any different from staying in the US for 2 weeks?

The longer the better. When my wife landed, we entered through a fairly small boarder crossing in BC. The CBSA officer there said they only submitted the documentation to IRCC once a week, so it might take a week or two for her status to be updated in the system (the one they use to confirm your PR status). If you are there for two month, you will be fine.
