I only used English as an official language of India in my cec application, i didn't use/ wrote hindi at all. Both English and Hindi and official languages of India but I am more comfortable with English. Is that ok?.... just a random thought came into my mind as i recently mailed my application a couple days ago. :o

Where in the application is asked about official language of your country? I am surprised to learn the English is an official language in India :)

Alright ..... that is fine.. you can write it down in english.. i bet they can't understand what you have put down there if written in the actual native script :)... If English is an official language in India, why do people need to appear for CELPIP or IELTS :D

Everyone needs to submit CELPIP or IELTS, it doesn't matter what your native language is. You could be American, British, Aussie, and speak english since you were born (and english probably being the only language you speak). It doesn't matter, it's a required document for everyone.

Not all countries in America speak English, in fact 70% of the American continent speaks Spanish.

Anyway, the reason for the exam is because it being an official language means little. Think of Canada, French is also an official language and only around 22% of Canadians speak French.

One my colleague is from UK, and he even need to submit English exam result for CEC application. ;D
