Hello,
I travelled to BC at the end of October on my US Passport and have been living with my fiance. We would like to get married in March, but my 6 months in a consecutive twelve will end in February (I spent time prior to this in Canada visiting his family and such). I am wondering if getting married AFTER we request the extension is going to cause problems for us? I've reviewed a few things and have gotten the impression that saying "I wish to further explore my relationship with my partner" or "we plan to apply for Permanent Residence after achieving Common Law status," are commonly used and accepted reasons to extend visits such as mine. Would saying "Engaged to be wed on March x" be better or worse in terms of being successful in extending my stay? To make it clear - we are getting married because we love each other and want to take that step. We just want to be certain that we are doing everything as properly as possible, with the best chance of my staying in the country, getting married, and applying for permanent residency. Thank you!
