Where do you want to work, with CIC or CBSA? (Gov't) or do you want to work as a consultant, which means you have to become a member of CSIC.http://www.csic-scci.ca/indexE.html

CBSA http://www.jobs-emplois.gc.ca/fswep-pfete/student/index_e.htm
for students or http://www.psc-cfp.gc.ca/centres/empl_e.htm for regular employment.

employment within immigration

Thank-you for your reply,

I am interested in any area within this field that provides these services willing to work any where from passport offices, airport, or any other agencies that provides services or have dealings with immigration. I understand that in order to work as a consultant I would have to go back to school and obtained additional training, would consder that opition in the future. Many of these jobs are government jobs I find it difficult to get in, and although I am always checking for new posting it gets very frustrating when nothing comes up. What other options do I have?

Hi,

I have just posted a question with a topic "Can I become CSIC member from outside of Canada?". Please read the topic as I think you could be a great help to me. I would also like to pursue my career in immigration filed but I am in India.

Could you thrown some light on how should I proceed in studying the immigration while I am in India and if you could give me some information on subjects and hints on types of questions to be answered in the exam and share other important information.

Detailed reply will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

A1meem.

is it possible to get a job in CBSA being a PR, not citizen?

Theoretically yes, as there is no bar to PRs working for the CBSA, but they give preference to Canadian citizens. This means that if an equally qualified PR and citizen are competing for the same position, the citizen will always get it.

From what I've heard the hiring process for being a CBSA border officer is fairly competitive and even being accept to and completing training does not guarantee employment, so that position would be very tough to get hired for as a PR, but I don't know about other positions with the CBSA or with the CIC.

thank you for your reply, Karlshammar. I just don't understand why they mention on their site that the employment is almost guaranteed.

It's a gov't body... There's probably no good reason. :)
