Hello Guys

Clarification about proof of work - from the site it says -

Proof of work experience

Purpose

To prove each work experience claim and to validate that the applicant meets program requirements

Document requirements

  • The personalized document checklist in applicants’ online account prompts the applicant with an upload field for each work experience declared.
  • At the completeness check, the processing office determines only whether the required documents are included. The validity or fraudulence of the information is assessed only if and when the application is placed into processing.
The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

  • a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
    • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
    • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits;

Questions -
1. While browsing this forum, I saw some requested their proof of work notarized. In what instance is that done?
2. My employer will only provide me a paper with letter head and asked me to fill it and my manager will sign. Is that okay? If manager is not available , is another manager okay to sign, as my current manager is out for two months for vacation

1- in case they cant get a reference letter but seems you won't have that issue
2- it can be your employer or HR as well who sign it: emphasis on OR
signature of the immediate supervisor OR personnel officer at the company),

Questions -
1. While browsing this forum, I saw some requested their proof of work notarized. In what instance is that done?
It is done in the misguided believe that it is necessary. (10 years ago, all photocopies had to be certified; it is no longer required). It is more customary in some countries than others.

It is true that in some cases, people have to provide alternative documentation, and feel that, for example, a sworn affidavit from a colleague is "stronger" than a regular letter from a colleague. But IRCC does not require it.

2. My employer will only provide me a paper with letter head and asked me to fill it and my manager will sign. Is that okay? If manager is not available , is another manager okay to sign, as my current manager is out for two months for vacation

It is quite common for applicants to provide their employers with drafts, prepare the letters, and have them sign. IRCC actually prefers getting a letter from a direct supervisor/manager. As long as the representative is willing to sign, then it should be OK.

thanks guys, however, just to confirm if I got it correctly

1. I can write the letter since HR will not provide a detailed letter containing job responsibilities etc that IRCC is requiring, then I can have another manager (not the one I am directly reporting to) sign it as my manager is currently on leave for 2 months. Technically my manager has no direct back up, a number of managers are assigned to handle us. HR also wont sign the customized letter.

2. If yes on the above, I am worried that IRCC will call my company and say I am not a direct report of that manager who will sign my proof of employment and may think I am misrepresenting (I am not sure if Hr will say that the manager is on leave blah blah)

3. For another case, my previous employer is asking for a recipient of the letter. Should it be IRCC?

Thanks. Sorry for too much granular questions. I hope you can understand my worries
