Employment necessary for Canadian citizenship

hi all, can people advise if you need to be employed to be eligible for Canadian citizenship. I am Mother if a minor boy living in Canada by myself with my child. My spouse is continuing to work in another country to support us financially. Given his healthy income levels he may not be able to join us physically in Canada. With this I am unable to start working as I need to take care of my school going child. My non working status can become a challenge while applying for citizenship at the end of three years? All feedback welcome. Thanks

Grant of citizenship is not contingent upon employment. You can apply for citizenship without having had any jobs.
