Hi,

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but I can't find the answer in the sea of threads.

I have requested from my employer a letter of reference in regards to my position as a Sales Manager for immigration purposes. I didn't send them a template.

They sent back a 'Record of Employment' on the Service Canada form. Is this sufficient proof of employment? It shows dates worked, position held, addresses and contact details etc.
I was also sent T4's as well to supplement this.

With these 2 items, is this enough for CIC? I don't believe the company would be willing to type up a letter of employment on a company letterhead.

Thanks

Not sufficient. You are missing work hours per week and most importantly duties and responsibilities.

Without the latter you will face rejection (assuming without this work experience you fall below the cutoff score and/or you do not meet the program requirements anymore).

The letter shows 'Total insurable hours' as 2088. Which is based on 52 weeks (40 hours/week). This isn't sufficient?
And duties/responsibilities - Could I get provide the job prescription for the Sales Manager position as my duties performed? I still have access to a copy of that from when I was assisting in recruitment. This is on a company letterhead and outlines duties/responsibilities of a sales manager

This is an example from google what it shows, except mine shows 'pay period type' as WEEKLY. And has the lower left section filled with each weekly amount paid

Not enough. This is what you will need to have:
  • A letter of reference or experience from the employer
    • This should be an official document printed on the company letterhead
    • It must contain:
      • The applicant’s name
      • The company’s contact information i.e. the address, the telephone number and the e-mail address
      • The details of the immediate supervisor or the personnel officer at the company i.e. the name, title and signature
    • The letter must specify all the positions held while employed at the company
    • It must also include the following details:
      • The job title
      • The job duties and responsibilities
      • The job status (if it is the current job)
      • The dates worked for the company
      • The number of work hours per week and,
      • The annual salary plus benefits
AND
  • If the work experience is in Canada, the documents submitted as proofs could include:
    • Copies of T4 tax information slips
    • Notices of Assessment (NOA) issued by the Canada Revenue Agency
    • Option C printouts issued by the Canada Revenue Agency
    • It is worth mentioning here that the time period for these documents must correspond with the work experience timeframe
hope this helps.
