Hey,

My employer is not supporting employment reference letters for PR purpose.

However they issued me a letter addressed to a bank for loan purpose , but the letter clearly mentions that I cannot use it for any other purpose other than applying loans.

Can I use this letter as a employment proof and sent to CIC or will it cause any issues.

Thanks

if the letter clearly mentioned everything that cic need( job title, salary, main duties etc) , I would apply with it and attach a written explanation

If I were u, I wouldn't use this letter as it says for loan and cannot be used for other purpose, also this will clearly indicate to VO that u misled ur employer to provide such letter only to apply PR, which really doesn't give a good impression

Some applicants even got rejected by submitting letters provided to obtain US visa along with everything (t4, NOA, pay stubs, transfer/agreement, salary revision letters & explanation letter), so u will b on the same boat, it all depends on VO. This is just my opinion, if u have no other option then I guess u should take the risk

Search with "reject" in this forum

Aren't they obligated to provide that letter? You are working for them and it is your right. Maybe they thought the letter would be like a sponsorship letter and they were not ok with it? I don't see why they wouldn't want to give you a general letter listing your duties, salary and such. Doesn't make sense. I would do some reseach online because I don't think they can do that "legally".

Your employer must give you a letter confirming that you are employed there, your start date, your salary, duties...etc. The letter can simply be addressed as "To Whome it May Concern". You employer is in no way sponsering you or anything like that, all you are asking them for is a letter to confirm your employment details, they do not need to mention anything about PR on the letter.

Is the company you work for a big organization or a small one? Some small companies may not want to give a letter for immigration because they do not follow proper procedures in keeping employees, like they may not be paying some taxes...etc. Therefore they do not want immigration calling them up and asking questions.

My personal opinion...do NOT use the bank loan letter, I do not think CIC will accept it.

You can call HRDC to ask them about your rights in terms of obtaining employment record letter from your employer.

This is awkward. It does NOT hurt your employer in any means just by writing an employment letter for you unless you doing a cash job, which I hardly believe you would apply for CEC in this case. try talk to your manager and explain to him/her how important this is to you and the impact to your company, which is none.

You may have better luck if you give your employer a copy of the section of the CEC checklist that descibes what is needed. At the very least, an employer is required to confirm your start and stop dates of employment.

If you still can't get a reference letter, ask your direct boss or manager. Also, you may request your ROE(record of employment) from HRSDC.
