Can somebody tell me when does an employer verification takes place in the application process..thanks,

Employer verification takes place after your file gets under processing. Typically 5-9 months after application.

Employment verification does take place at the time as Ankit mentioned; but it is not mandatory that all applicants will have verification. Random spot checks as quality assurance or if VO detects some problem in your file that can be related to any aspect of your application or if he needs any clarifications.
