Hi,

I am currently working for my employer (in Ontario) with a NOC 0 job. My employer was incorporated in October 2019. Is there a certain criteria for the employer who you work for in order to get that 1 year of valid Canadian work permit?

I have an open work permit (PGWP) that expires in Sept 2022. I joined my current employer in May 2020 and am expecting my 1 year of full time work to complete in May 2021. Just want to make sure I didn't waste all this time working for an employer who doesn't qualify for the CEC requirements.

Any help in clarifying this is appreciated. Thank you.

Self-employment does not count as Canadian work experience under CEC. Are you classified as an employee or self employed? Does your employer deduct taxes and do you get a T4 at the end of each year?

As long as you are not classified as self employed, the work experience should count.

Yeah, I am not self-employed. Get taxes deducted from my pay and will get a T4 as well.

Just wanted to ensure if there were any limitations or certain criteria for my employer as the company I work for is fairly young.
