Hi all,

I am communicating with my previous employers to give me reference letter as requested by CIC.
I already have their re-leaving letter with me, which mentions only the post & from this date to this date.
this letter doesn't have how many weeks per hour/what duties/full time or party time like that.

and now company has rejected giving any of this details in a new reference letter.
this may sound unusual to many, but this how things works in our country.

So, what should i do now?
what can i attach as a proof of previous employment with my final application to CIC.

please advice, as i am almost sure many would have faced this problem.

If the employer is reluctant, then you can try with your HR or Manager and get the hours/roles on the company's letter head.

Good Luck !!!

dear, thanks for advice.

i checked with my friend in old company. who is manager now. I prepared a draft as per the requirement for HR to follow-containing the req. of CIC, that matches with my previous duties as well.
this friend sent a mail requesting to HR, to give the detailed reference letter.....
HR lady refused...saying this is not as per our standard procedure to give letters with such details. (they don't have any procedures!, at first place)

So, what can be done in this case?

Is there any work around?
Isnt the normal usual releaving letter enough for CIC...

these requirements are making me mad, please advice.

if you have the reliving, offer, pay stubs then its fine.
but, make sure you have ROLES letter briefing about the duties you perform. without duties, they cannot evaluate your work experience.
at least, you can ask the HR, to send it by email.

good luck !!!

I am having the same problem. In my country the companies do not provide details on our duties. In the employment certs they include info on the period and title. All the companies I worked for do not provide this details on duties performed as they insist the title should be enough. Any reference letter from the peers at those companies would help here?

I understand this will help evaluate the experience. but then what to do, this is not available.

I worked in 5 companies, 2 of them MNCs. None of the employment offer letter mention anything about ROLES, it has many pages of contract/legal/IT/privacy and lab lab la....
this is not normal to mention duties in such letters, I am telling you no company mentions duties performed in either joining or re-leaving letter in India.

I don't know why no-one else is having such difficulties, especially experienced applicants.

Please advice some work around, or first hand experiences.

yaa, you're right most of the companies don't give ROLES letter, but their is always a way to get them as you clearly know what roles you have performed, just the way you'll frame your resume, brief the roles and ask any of the senior members of the company to get it signed and stamped for you. don't forget to mention their job titles and their contact information.
If on the worst case, if you're unable to get them on the company letter head, at least ask you HR or any other manager to forward the reason for not giving the letter to your email. or get it on a paper and get the signatures from them.
when you file your application, clearly brief CIC why you were unable to get the roles on the letter head and do mention all the roles you perform at the company.

Thanks I will attach the denial letter.
And will write my duties in letter.

Was curious, the VO will really call these many employers?
To check everybody's details....thats Very amusing!

The VO may not call them all, but we don't know whom they'll ring. so its better to provide references of all, especially for the NOC where you're claiming the work experience points.

It all depends on the discretion of the VO, who'll assess your file. you could still try for certificate of employment and experience letter from your employer if you have left the job.

Capture the necessary info in your personal reference letter; salaries, work hours, duration of employment and duties. It is very important you include evidences such as contract letters, pay stubs, employment letters, etc. But note that the final decision will be at the discretion of the VO.
Good luck

Do we need to have info on hours per week in employment letters?

I think saying full-time sgould be suffice in this regard. Seniors can chime on and correct me if I am wrong. My letters say that I was a fulltime employee.

Dear Experts,

One of my friend got rejection from CIC stated the reason that "Employers reference letters were not included". But he has included 2 affidavits from his seniors/Managers along with detailed duties performed during his tenure in 2 different organizations. He has also included the email from his current employer that HR department can not provide him duties on company's letter head.

Now, as FSWP 2014 is closed. Is there any hope if he send his letter back to CIC with cover letter ?

I would like to know, if anyone is able to submit his/her file successfully without any reference letter from employer?

Valuable comments from senior forum members will be highly appreciated!
