I'm having trouble getting an employer reference letter from my prior job. I do have a reference letter from my current (past 5 years) employer, however it's proving impossible to contact HR in my former company. I am applying under NOC code 2171 (Systems Analyst) for both the current job and the prior one I am having trouble getting a letter from. The job I'm having trouble getting the letter from is a large corporation and well-known in the computing area (I mention that as I feel it ads credibility to my statement that I qualify under 2171 simply from having worked there).

The employer is large/bureaucratic enough that I simply am finding it's impossible to reach a person in HR. They refer all employment verification to a website which produces an automated document stating the dates I worked there and salary information, but nothing about the duties of the job. The OINP PNP seems to want something that goes more into job duties (states "Positions held, duties and responsibilities during the employment period for each position, and the time spent in each position (if applicable)"). To make matters more difficult, I didn't leave on the best terms with my former manager, and would prefer to not contact her if possible.

What I do have from this job is:
Business Cards
W2 (Tax information) from job
Automated verification of job including dates, salary and title)
I *MIGHT* have the employment contract still - not certain

If I send those things to OINP, is that likely to be enough to satisfy them? Or should I continue investing time into trying to get something listing the job details?

Anyone have any thoughts? My current plan is to send the automated job verification along with a letter I wrote (text below) - any thoughts on that? Is there a better way? I've replaced the actual company name with "Company X"

To Whom It May Concern:
I am unable to obtain a letter from Company X, my previous employer, outlining the duties of my job as a Senior Support Escalation Engineer as requested for the OINP PNP. Company X provides automated employment and salary verification through The Work Number, a third-party, but states that “An exception request for a manual letter can only confirm dates of employment, title, and salary as appropriate.“ I have attached this automated verification from The Work Number to this letter, which is Company X’s official verification of my job title, salary and employment dates.
As I am unable to obtain a letter from Company X outlining what my primary job responsibilities were while at Company X, I have documented them below:
• Provided escalation-level technical support to enterprise customers
• Worked with clients to implement information system solutions and policies
• Troubleshoot computing environments to identify configuration issues and bugs and provide solutions
• Perform root cause analysis on identified issues
• Create and update support documentation for future reference
• Collect and review debugging information and logs from systems to identify issues
• Reviewed customer computing environments to perform health-checks
• Obtain and maintain industry-standard Microsoft certifications (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional: Enterprise Administrator)

Additionally, I have attached my Microsoft Certified Professional transcript, which shows that I obtained many industry-standard certifications while at Company X, including the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional: Enterprise Administrator mentioned above. Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns regarding this.

Thank you,
