Hi

my employer has refused to give me a letter stating my roles and responsibilities. i have my joining and relieveing letter which has the dates. also have my salary hike letters.

I read at places that people take letters from their managers and register it as an affidavat. Does it really work this way??

please suggest

Registering an affidavit is absolutely not required. IN case you can't get a letter use your join/resignation letter along with paystubs if you have.

Hi,

Do you mean that your "employer" refused to give you the letter of reference but your "manager" agrees? if yes, then it will work absolutely fine. Just don't miss any points which are mandatory for a reference letter and get it signed by your manager with date. it will work.

I am still waiting for ITA but in order to prepare the docs I have been collecting letters. Where I could not get letter from the employer, I took a sworn declaration by my manager / colleagues and got it notarized. If you are taking it from non-manager colleague, make sure her designation is equal or higher than yours. I am not sure of Canada though, but the same worked very well for my assessment (ACS, something similar to ECA for Canada, with inclusion of work ex to determine your skill) relating to Australian immigration. Hope this helps.
