Employer in Canada is not responding

We received our Immigrant visa with the Confirmation of Permanent Residency and it's due to expire on June 2010. My husband is the principal applicant and we are under a Provincial Nominee Program. The employer who sponsored such application is currently not responding to our question as to when can we go to Canada. If the employer will not hire my husband anymore, can we still go to Canada at our own expense and try to find another job there? (besides our visa is classified as immigrant). In our application here in our home country, the CIC did not require us to show proof of funds. However, if we decide to proceed on traveling to Canada, are we required to show proof of funds in the Immigration at the port of entry to Canada? Will the Immigration still have to contact the employer who supposedly sponsor us? Please help me.

You can land in Canada, and then work for different employer in any province in Canada, even if it is different that the province that nominated you, except Quebec.
You are not required to show proof of funds.

Thank you so much imigrate. You mean for instance, my husband left on April 15 and land in Vancouver as port of entry and to travel in saskatchewan as his final destination, the Vancouver Immigration Officer will no longer ask for proof of funds even if there is no guaranteed employment yet? Because I have this strange feeling that the employer whom he is supposed to work with is not capable yet of getting new workers. I am just worried if we do not use the visa and let it expire on June, we might not be able to be issued again if we re-apply, so might as well use it now and find another job in Canada. Am I doing the right thing? Need your opinion. Thanks again

Correct, your husband can land in Vancouver, even if he was nominated in Saskatchewan. My friend did the same thing, she was nominated by Saskatchewan, and landed in Vancouver.

In my landing experience, I've brought with me all documents like proof of funds, etc, however during the process the officer did not ask for any of it. Just show passport and COPR, and goods to follow list, and you'll be done.

After landing you can move anywhere in Canada and work for any employer in Canada, it does not have to be with the company that sponsored you.

Hi imigrate, thanks for your response. Another question I want to ask, Does Immigrant Visa has classification? I am just wondering why there are applicants being asked of proof of funds and other are not. In our case, our visa were approved without showing proof of funds to the Embassy. This is my biggest concern, because with the limited time left for us prior to expiration of our visa, we may not be able to produce the required proof of funds for a family of four. This is because the supposedly employer may no longer be interested in getting my husband. And I really wanted to migrate in Canada. I have also resigned from my employment here in my home country. Thanks and God Bless.

Now that you have got your PR visa through PNP you dont need to show proof of funds.
But how will you survive your stay till you find a new job. So its better you carry some money for survival till you find a job. I would suggest just land and then decide what to do.

Hi nicholas,

Thanks for the info. So, you mean if we have PR visa through PNP, the Canadian immigration won't ask anymore about my husband's supposed to be "employer" (which i believe has filed for bankruptcy).

You know what's keeping me worried is the possible inadmissibility to Canada if we don't show the required proof of funds, although we can bring around CAD13,000.00 (far from the CAD20,100 requirement for a family of 4). And we have friends (former officemates) that are now in Canada and willing to help us.

We have given up everything from our home country, our job, our home, my kids' studies and sold all other assets because of this canadian dream. And it was too late before we knew that the employer has a problem. Our visa will expire this June and we don't have enough time to raise the required funds. Although I have read in so many articles and forum that the "proof of funds" should be satisfied prior to issuance of visa, but i don't know how this "employer problem" will affect my husband's landing to Canada. So anyone, please share with us any information that can help us.

Now that you have given up your jobs, kids studies and so on you have no choice I guess but to move to Canada. You can also send your queries to the province which nominated your husband and get a positive reply.......
