Hey guys,

Do you know by chance if I can go to the emergency room using my AIP letter and a copy of my passport?

I was told by my lawyer I could apply for AHCIP ( Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan) but when I tried to do so, the registries offices told me they can't issue me a health card until I get an official document from imm, which I assume is the COPR.

If I go to the emergency room with no AHCIP they will charge me around $900 per visit/day, but given the fact that my application was approved in principle, can I go to the emergency room without being charged $900?

You need AHCIP to get free treatment.

The emergency room won't accept the AIP letter and your passport as an alternative.
