hi all,
We had been waiting on the Cdn Embassy in Lima, Peru to confirm my husband's obligatory military service. They had requested additional information exactly one year ago (hmmm what a coincidence since the request said it could be 12 to 18 months to process) and now they have contacted my husband to supply updated/new police and medical records since the originals have, of course, expired.
Do you think this is a sign that they are moving forward with his PR, have finished the military investigation and are just obtaining current documents to complete our case and give him his PR?
Thanks for your help.

To me it sounds like it is in the home stretch and the military investigation is completed.

Thank you, thank you, thank you PMM for confirmation that the military portion seems to be done. At least now I have some belief that things will again move forward. There has been nothing else in our application that they have questioned or held up. I hope this is ......the home stretch!

What a great news LCS! I am more than 100 percent sure this is just to have updated documents to finalize the case and issue him the visa. Wish you all the best.

Thanks Gotchaa,
I am sure this is the final stage. They had not been asking for regular medical and police updates during the whole waiting time and if there HAD been a problem with his military service, which of course we knew there would not be, they would have been advising us of that instead of asking for these new updated documents to complete our application. That is the thing with the immmigration process, unless you request the CAIPS information every month, you have to "guess" at where things are at.
I wish you luck with your application as well, news should be coming soon for you too.

Thanks for your well wishes. I was thinking for CAIPS request but i just read here from a person working for CIC that CAIPS wont show anything which I already dont know and if there is any investigation going on, it will not be included in CAIPS due to strict privacy regulation. Now I am wondering whats the use of requesting for CAIPS if it is not going to indicate reason for delay. Besides, I have received an email about the status of my case recently saying that its under review with the senior officer and they will contact me for further instructions once this senior officer realises there is one case file lying under his/her seat as well. Havnt given up hope though, and will not! Wish you wonderful life ahead with your husband.
