:) :D ;D

Hey all,

Hope someone here can verify some info for me. We reside in Florida, I Canadian and she is American. We've had a fairly long process for her Permanent Resident application for Canada. Started Nov 08 and have had some hurdles to cross. Yesterday, my wife received an email from what appears to be the Immigration office in Buffalo, NY requesting her passport as they are ready to issue a Visa. I'm just being cautious as we have not received any snail mail requesting the passport. Is this standard practice or should we be receiving an official letter in the mail? Thanks in advance for any responses.

This is common. Good news for you; send you passport, or go in person for a quicker result. If any doubt, click reply on the email and check the address, it should be a ".gc.ca" address.

Thanks for the info annabruce.

Here is a bit about our timelines.

I did the application for immigration to the US June 2004

Retired from the Military Apr 2005.

Crossed the border into the US June 2005. We moved to Florida so that my wife could spend some time with her father. He's now 89 and doing well.

Submitted Sponsorship App to Mississauga Nov 2008 and was approved shortly after.

Submitted PR application Feb 2009.

Received a request for further info with regards to my wifes background in Sep 2009 which we responded to.

Feb 2010, received another request for more info on background from CIC and after speaking with the State Attorney's office, sent another letter to CIC outlining the response from the State Attorney.

21 May 2010, received an email requesting passport.

Will probably move to NB in Oct 2010. I've been away from home for 33 years, time to spend some time with my father before anything happens.

I got an email PPR from Buffalo and almost tossed it to my junk mail as the sender address was not recognizable. A snail mail request did follow.
