Hi everyone,

I have been a bit confused with Express Entry system. I'm planning to apply under Federal Skilled Worker program in Express Entry. I have more than 67 points that are required. However my CRS score is under 400 (calculated based on the time I will apply) because I don't have arranged work at Canada, otherwise I would pass it easily. Since I pass the minimum requirement mark of Federal Skilled Worker program am I eligible to apply for it? I'm asking this because I recently saw a video in YouTube from one Canadian immigration company which is eligible and they said that most important score is CRS score in Express Entry and what I understood is that if you don't pass that score it would be extremely difficult to even get a chance to immigrate to Canada.

All help would be appreciated :)

67/100 points measures your eligibility under FSW. This means your profile will be accepted into the Express Entry pool. It looks like you meet this requirement.

Once your profile is in the pool, your ranking in the pool determines when and if you are invited to apply for PR. The higher your CRS score, the higher your ranking and the better your chances. Without an ITA, you will be stuck in the pool and can't apply.

A score of under 400 points is not competitive, and you will not be invited to apply any time soon, and likely never.

The lowest score that ITAs were issued for was 450. The cut-off currently hovers around 480.

You would have to improve your score to stand a chance. Scoring very high in IELTS and having a Master's degree or two separate university degrees is pretty much a requirement if you want to receive a direct invitation. Otherwise, you will need a qualifying job offer or a provincial nomination to get an ITA.
Thank you dan_and,

Well I have wanted so badly to study my Master Degree in Canada but the problem is that my Bachelor degree scores are not enough high and I can't upgrade them because I have already graduated. Is there a possibility that if you rank enough points in FSW program that they will be added to your CRS score? Is it also possible to get LMIA Job offer if you have less than 450 CRS points?

Not necessarily:

- scores may come down again. Remember, they used to be at 450
- you could improve your language test results
- you could look into provincial programs (see the sticky thread on top of this board to learn about the different requirements)
- you could study again - it doesn't necessarily have to be in Canada, and doesn't necessarily need to be a Master's degree
- you could see if you qualify for IEC (working holiday visa) to gain Canadian work experience

Study this page to understand what you need to do to get to 450+ points:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp

And/or play around with this tool to see what you need to do to achieve more points:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Lastly, are you sure you only have <400 points? Have you used the tool above to calculate your points?
Yes I am sure. I have used that calculator and according to my practice IELTS my CLB is 10. I have bachelor degree and I'm 33 years old on the time I would like to apply and also have over 2 years of professional full time work experience in my field. My CRS score is 394 and my FSW score is 68. So it doesn't look good :(

You can count all your work experience in NOC classes 0, A or B in the last 10 years. It needn't only be the job that is related to your studies. If you're 33, I'd imagine you've had other jobs?

What did you select in the calculator when asked about ECA? Yes or no?
My NOC belongs to class A, I have to think more closely with which NOC I would apply from 2173-2175. I want to do that job because I'm very passionate about it. If I would be offered other jobs I don't have experience of them so it doesn't help me at all. However if I would be offered then yes I can take such job. I selected Bachelor Degree at ECA, but there was no 'Yes' or 'No' options about ECA. I did calculations based on this tool at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp.

You're right - ECA is not asked for separately, so you entered it correctly. I forgot about that.

About work experience: Again, you can get points for all your work experience. It's irrelevant what job you're passionate about or want to do in Canada.

Do you have more than 3 years of cumulative work experience in skilled jobs (plural!) in your home country or any other country in the last 10 years?

If so, you may receive an additional 25 points.
Well if summer jobs and training periods will be calculated then yes I have more than 4 years of working experience. Only my training working experience have lasted totally 18 months and they have all been full time. I have done my internship in Australia but I think that is irrelevant information.

I calculated now with working experience in 3 or more years and now I get 416 points. :D

Is it possible to get Job LMIA or nomination from Province or Territory during Express Entry pool? Assuming that I have just created my profile with information that provides me CRS and FSW program scores above.

Summer jobs and training periods count if they were in a NOC of skill level A, B, or O, and they were not undertaken as part of your degree.

Provincial Nomination is a possibility; read the Summary of Eligibility Requirements sticky thread.
A job offer is very unlikely.

Hi istari and thank you for your answer. If that is the case then I have at least 12 months of work experience in addition if we take out that any training period undertaken as part of my degree. Even though my points won't be enough.

It seems that if I get Provincal Nomination that would be my best chance because then my score would be 1016 points. I have to read more about Provincal Nomination :)
