Hello,

I have a question about sponsoring my spouse, who is currently outside of Canada. I have been a permanent resident since March 20, 2019, and got divorced on January 20, 2022. I remarried on June 20, 2024. From what I understand, I became eligible to sponsor my spouse as of March 20, 2024, but I’m unsure if there is a required waiting period after a divorce before I can sponsor. Can anyone confirm if I’m eligible based on these dates?

Form restriction:

In the five years preceding this application, did you became a permanent resident after being sponsored as a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner?

Thank you!

So were sponsored by spouse for PR or did you sponsor your ex-spouse?

There is no required waiting period after divorce. You are good to apply.
