Hi,
I am an Australian citizen with Canadian PR currently residing in Australia with my partner of 12 years who is a Canadian citizen. I obtained my PR back in 2005, and since then we have lived in both country's on and off; most recently in Canada in 2012 for 12 months. We also have two children together, whom are both dual Canadian / Australian citizens.
I am thinking of applying for Canadian citizenship in the near future as we are expecting to return to Canada to settle down. I believe I need to be residing in Canada for 3 out of the previous 4 years prior to applying; can someone confirm this?
Also I was wondering if being out of Canada, but with a Canadian citizen counts towards any eligibility when applying for citizenship; similarly to the PR obligations with living overseas with a canadian citizen?
Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks
