Well, While not a PR or citizen I still follow Canadian politics a little. Lets get a little action going in the forums with what you think the Conservatives will do now that they have a majority in Parliament. What about the NDP's surge to 106 seats or the utter decimation of the Quebec Separatist party?

I believe the conservatives will continue the same platform that keeps them popular with the cowboy crowd in the west and dooms them with the liberalists in the east. The NDP scare me. I remember how the NDP back in the days of Bob Rae screwed Ontario over, to the point they could never ever be more than 2nd place (usually 3rd) in Ontario. As Duceppe said, the Quebec citizens are giving one last federalist party a chance, that being the NDP. If the NDP repeat the failures of Ontario in Quebec, expect the only other party to pull a seat or two from there this time around to be rejuvenated...I therefore doubt that the separatist movement in Quebec is over, and in fact, the NDP may secretly revive it. This is why you had Bloc party members urging their constituents to vote NDP!

The liberals will need to take a back seat, it's about time they got someone in power with Charisma. Perhaps Mr. Trudeau's son would like to step up and lead a youth movement that no one has captured since his father, and perhaps to a far lesser extent Mr. Chretien in the 90's. Otherwise this party with all of it's old guard, will fade a way faster than any one can say Iggy. I used to work for the liberal party and campaigned for them, but they have lost my interest, and as of right now my vote, partly because they just refuse to change, and party because I am no longer sure they are a viable alternative in Canada!

I tend to agree with your point of view. While i may dislike the Conservative immigration policy I tend to agree with them about most other things. It's one of the few times i feel really torn and it is another of those times when i am almost glad to as of right now have no real voice in the matter. Would I have voted for self interest or for the interest of the country i look to call my own? I like to think I'd have done the right thing, but it is a nagging thought none the less.

I look forward to seeing what Harper can do for the Canadian economy, and what the NDP brings to the table

Re-electing the Conservatives to a majority is likely to bring on a revival of Quebec nationalism. You won't believe the amount of Quebec pride and feelings of being so different from the rest of Quebec that I saw on Facebook this morning. Yes, I know, it's Facebook but hey, social media is where the youth congregate.

I'm under the impression that this election will help the Parti Quebecois win the provincial election and perhaps we will see another referendum.

But, to allow for real democracy, honestly I believe it's better not to have a majority party -- be it Conservative, NDP or Liberal. When it comes to politics, everyone is right..
